Considering the size, frequency and distance, antenna radiation pattern is not a meaningful parameter for NFC designers. Amplitude and distribution of the signal are important. EMSCAN will first introduce very-near-field magnetic measurement techniques and will then demonstrate how the EMxpert, an instrument built around a patented array of very-nearfield magnetic probes is a fast and effective tool that measure and displays the emissions from an NFC antenna.

The peak hold mode of the EMxpert can create a full image of the antenna’s emission in seconds even with a bursty NFC signal at both the spectral and spatial levels. These results would allow a designer or tester to verify that the antenna is operating as expected.

EMSCAN will also introduce its current research program designed to further enhance its NFC testing.
