The marble hall of the State Department was the setting for the solemn event, attended by many international guests.
The radionuclide laboratory ATL03, operated by Seibersdorf Labor GmbH, was the world's first laboratory, which could meet the stringent requirements of the CTBTO (Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization). The organization, headquartered in Vienna, monitors the redemption of the international nuclear test ban treaty. The commissioning of the ATL03, 10 years ago, was one of the most important development steps in the construction of planetary control network of the CTBTO.
The motto under which the evening was provided was "Science for Disarmament". In his speech, Foreign Minister Spindelegger mannered the importance of the nuclear test ban treaty for a more peaceful world, and Tibor Toth, Executive Secretary of the CTBTO, praised the contributions of Seibersdorf in Austria and especially Seibersdorf experts in its implementation.
As a representative of the Seibersdorf radionuclide laboratory Martina Schwaiger spoke about the specific scientific and technical challenges, that had to be overcome in the construction of the laboratory. She thanked the official Austria for financial support of the research achievements and the successful cooperation with the CTBTO in the past 10 years. Finally she thanked especially "her" team for the great performance.
