Final Paper Submission
After acceptance of their paper for oral presentation, poster, or data workshop, authors are invited to provide a final proceedings paper addressing the comments of the reviewers. The comments will be available on the RADOCS website.
The format of the final paper is the standard IEEE Transactions format. Guidelines for preparing the paper are provided here: Preparation of Papers for IEEE TRANSACTIONS and JOURNALS.
Authors shall post their final papers before September 8, 2021, 23:59 h (Vienna time) on the RADOCS website. Papers will be published in the conference proceedings, and will be made available electronically to all conference attendees after the conference. They will also be available on IEEE Xplore.
IEEE TNS Submission Process
Each author of an oral or poster paper at RADECS is welcome to submit a manuscript based on this work to the IEEE TNS. Papers not submitted to the TNS or that are not accepted to the TNS will be eligible for inclusion in the RADECS Conference Proceedings. Accepted TNS papers will be indexed in the RADECS Conference Proceedings, to ensure that all contributions to the Conference are acknowledged fully, and so readers are directed to the appropriate TNS publication. Instructions for the RADECS Conference Proceedings are provided separately.
For manuscripts to be considered for publication, they should report original and new results, applications, and/or developments of interest and of general applicability. Papers must be original; they may not be similar to other published materials, including any conference proceedings papers published in IEEE Xplore. Papers that do not meet this criterion will be rejected without review. The manuscript must provide introductory material and context for the work. It must be clear what is new in the work, how it relates to other work in the field, and how it advances the state of the art. Related work must be referenced appropriately. Where possible, references to articles in the peer-reviewed literature should be provided, as opposed to sources that are non-archival, not reviewed, and/or difficult to obtain. A complete description of the work performed must be provided. Models should be verified by data or by some other means. There must be an analysis of data that provides conclusions that are general beyond the specific devices or system studied. Thus, Data Workshop and radiation test facility papers are not candidates for publication in the IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, but can be candidates for the RADECS Conference Proceedings. The information provided must be sufficient for others to make use of the approach, results, etc., so that the impact is not limited to the particular system or application used in the manuscript. Overall, the work needs to be of an archival nature (e.g., not only test results on a particular part type, or analysis of a particular design, without illustration of generally applicable principles.). All papers submitted for review for possible publication in the TNS will receive a detailed review by at least 2-3 reviewers who will consider these and other factors.
To submit your RADECS paper for possible publication in TNS, you must upload your paper at the TNS Manuscript Central web site at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tns-ieee
You will need to login to your account. If you are not sure whether you have an account on the system, click the "check for existing account" button and follow the instructions. If you do not have an account, you should click the "create a new account" button and follow those instructions.
1. Submission of the first draft of the manuscript:
Please upload the paper at the Manuscript Central web site by October 8, 2021, for full consideration for publication in the RADECS TNS Special Issue. To submit, please go to "Author Center" and select "Click here to submit a new manuscript." You will be asked to fill in some details on your paper. Under "manuscript type", select "RADECS 2021." This is important to ensure the paper will be published in the appropriate issue of the journal. Enter the paper title and abstract as requested. Under the sub-category "Radiation Effects" select the appropriate subject of the paper. Click on "save and continue" and continue to fill in the details as requested. When submitting the paper, please use a pdf version of the paper.
2. Submission of the revised version(s) of the manuscript:
Your revised manuscript (based on reviewers comments) will be uploaded in the same manner as the original manuscript. Please ensure that all substantial changes to the manuscript are easily apparent to the reviewers and editors.
3. Upon final paper acceptance:
You will use the TNS Manuscript Central web site to upload all materials for publication. Camera-ready pdf submissions are not acceptable for the final manuscript submission. Instructions for uploading final papers will be included in the final acceptance letter of notification. It is important to follow these carefully to ensure that your paper is processed in timely fashion for the RADECS 2020 special issue.
Advice from the Editors:
Proofreading the manuscript carefully before submittal has been found to greatly streamline and enhance the value of the comments from the reviewers. Please pay particular attention to the quality of the figures and the completeness, accuracy, and formatting of the reference list. Endnote and bibtex are good starting points for reference formatting, but generally do not match the TNS format fully. Authors are encouraged to refer to previously published works in the IEEE TNS to see examples of reference formats. Microsoft Word and Latex templates can be found on the IEEE Manuscript Central web site if desired. Login and then click on "Instructions and Forms" followed by "IEEE Publication Tools for Authors." Your contributed manuscript should not be longer than 8 pages as it would appear in the journal (figures embedded, two column format, etc.), unless additional length is necessary and justified by the extent and significance of the new contributions described in the manuscript. Papers exceeding 8 pages will be evaluated carefully by reviewers and editors with an eye towards potential reductions of length. Note that the TNS also occasionally publishes invited and/or review articles that exceed the 8 page limit. These papers are invited by the editors, and are ordinarily based on NSREC or RADECS short courses, and/or appear in special issues of the TNS. Because of this length requirement, all authors are required to format their paper from the beginning as it would appear in TNS. Authors should avoid the use of E notation to denote exponentiation in an effort to provide a more uniform and professional appearance of text and graphics in TNS papers; this is a requirement for the final, published document. Authors must use periods to denote decimals, not commas. Authors are encouraged to look at published papers in recent RADECS and NSREC special issues of the TNS for format examples.

Oral Presentations
Authors accepted for oral shall prepare a presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint in wide screen format. Authors are strongly encourage to use the conference PowerPoint template in order to prepare their presentation.
In case of online participation, presentations have to be provided prerecorded using Microsoft PowerPo-int including audio and video of the presenter (for more information, please refer to the tutorial from Microsoft https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/record-a-slide-show-with-narration-and-slide-timings-0b9502c6-5f6c-40ae-b1e7-e47d8741161c). If video recording of the presenter is not possible, a photo of the presenter shall be provided within the presentation. Authors should upload their PowerPoint presentations (and if applicable, recordings thereof) to the to the RADECS 2021 Oral Presentations Upload website before September 6, 2021, 23:59 h (Vienna time).
The conference organizers are also considering the possibility of live online-presentations, but these do not replace the sending of a pre-recorded presentation. In the case of live online-presentations, technical support will be provided as needed in a timely manner prior to the conference. The time allocated for each presentation is 10 minutes (please note: as opposed to 12 minutes in previous conference editions). There will be a Q&A session allocated at the end of each session with 5 minutes for each presentation. Presen-tations will be available for preview and update during the conference in the A/V preview room no later than the day before they are scheduled to be presented. Check the final conference brochure for the A/V preview room opening hours. The session chairs will contact the authors before the session to schedule a brief meeting at the presentation stage. This will be an opportunity to review procedures and equipment for the talk.
Posters
Authors accepted for posters in the technical sessions or data workshop shall prepare a poster. The usea-ble area is A0 format in portrait orientation (height: 1189mm, width: 841mm). It is advisable that posters contain a photo of the poster speaker and contact details. Please use the conference PowerPoint poster template.
Attention: the QR code in the Poster Template was meant to be provided to the authors, however, due to some technical constraints it will only be provided for the on-site posters and it will be directly attached in the poster panel by the conference organisers. Therefore, we suggest to the authors to generate a QR code on your own that can direct people to your personal or research group website, or any other page of interest (LinkedIn, ResearchGate…). Otherwise, you can also remove this QR field and use the space as it fits best to you. |
The poster speakers shall ensure their availability during the poster and DW sessions according to the schedule. Every poster speaker has to provide a PDF of their poster to the following RADECS 2021 upload site before September 6, 2021, 23:59 h (Vienna time). The Poster PDF will be available at the live-web-site of the RADECS 2021 conference during the entire conference. In addition a dedicated virtual room is provided for every poster speaker to present their poster to online participants.
Onsite posters must be mounted to the poster board with stickers/double sided tape. Stickers will be pro-vided at the conference in the poster area. Posters shall be assembled by 12:00 noon on Tuesday of the conference week. All poster shall be left in place until the end of the conference. Posters must be removed by 10:00 AM Friday. At the beginning of the poster session and data workshop the Session Chair will high-light each poster at the Conference Hall with title, name, and availability of the speaker.
